Yeah, I didn't actually narrow it down. I was getting inconsistent
results when narrowing it down as well. I think there might be some
leftover object files that aren't getting properly rebuilt as you're
doing bisects. You might want to do 'make clean' in between. FWIW, I
was using the latest git at the time (incl the 8bit patch, but I don't
think it's a culprit). I gave up on finding the problem, went back to
randr-1.1 (just git checkout -f), did a 'make distclean' and compiled
from scratch to get a working Xquartz.

I wouldn't be so sure. I'm seeing this too, now, and I didn't apply
those patches? :(
I want to release a 1.2a9, but can't until I figure out how this
happened. All of my attempts at using git bisect are failing to
produce consistent results. :/

Yeah, I saw that, but I figured that I might as well work with a
more recent version of RANDR just in case there was something
troublesome with randr-1.1 or helpful with 1.2...
I narrowed down the "sunglasses" problem to one of the few small
changes in the randr-1.2-for-server-1.2 branch outside of the randr
path, so that should be easy to find.
Since I notice I'm making more bugs than I'm fixing, I think I'm
just going to goto sleep now and try this again in the morning...
