Since this is already a wee bit off topic, I am hoping someone can
weigh in on a related question. Am I the only person who has run into
the following? After following this discussion with interest over the
last few weeks, I finally took the plunge and updated my MBP to
Leopard this weekend. Most things are going well so far. However, I
see a terrifically strange thing in Terminal, as the attached
screenshots will show.
Some investigation has revealed that whenever I try to display an "L"
followed by a slash, it gets composed into a weird slashed-L
character. This happens to occur, oh, you know, when your path
includes /usr/local/anything...
This seems to happen only when I am using the default Monaco font. If
I switch to TheSansMono, a lovely font I purchased while working on my
previous O'Reilly book, since it's what they use in printing code
samples, the problem disappears, even for previously-rendered text.
Switch back to Monaco, and it again looks like the attached screen
shot. (I've highlighted the last example, at the end of the output).
Is it just me? Anyone have any ideas what is causing this problem and
how to fix it or request that it be fixed?
