This has been mentioned in the list before and this does not work,
due to the nature of the problem. (The problem is not that xdmcp
does not work per se, but that it works but without a window manager
you cannot click into the login window so you cannot log in. This has
nothing to do with launchd support at all; it's a separate problem.)
The default focus model for X11, without a window manager, is to focus
the window under the cursor. Note that this is not "sloppy focus" like
most window managers provide. With sloppy focus, you can move the
cursor out of the window, but the window will remain focused until you
point to a different window (besides the root) to give that one focus.
Without a window manager, however, X11 will focus the root window the
instant you move the cursor out of another window.
You should always be able to mouse over the window to type into it.
