What do you mean by "exactly the same"?

Misreported version number? (if so, follow the steps I laid out in my initial response to find and remove it).
Double icon? (probably the same as above, follow the steps to find the offending X11.app).

I guarantee you that nothing has changed from 2.1.1 to 2.1.3 to affect the reported lockup / crash.

Yes, I have exactly the same. With 2.1.3 (but have only one X11.app),
and most likely also with 2.1.2. I have reverted back to 2.1.1 and for now
(couple of hours of usage) it has been stable.

[Q2} As it looks like the recent install (2.1.3), even if not showing in the
Help --> About as correct version, seem to have addressed two annoying
problems I was having (dual icons + not launching my default app - i.e.
xclipboard = now both working fine), I would ASSUME that I am - in fact -
running the latest build. Having said this, X11 still freezes, once in a
while, and once it does so, even if I kill any process showing up in:
$ps aux |grep -i x11, followed by $kill -9 <what I found X11 related>
or - also - forceably quitting the app via Mac's mechanism (Apple -- > Force
Quit), it looks like any subsequent launches of X.app from Finder -->
Utilities brings back the two icons in addition to not allowing any apps from
the menu to work, anymore. The only solution is to reboot the Mac. Is this
something anybody else has experienced? If not - what exactly should I go
after (kill processes) to avoid - at least - rebooting after an X11 freeze?
