Just a quick follow-up - after having removed the $DISPLAY setting in
~/.profile and the X11.app from the ~/Applications directory (which I still
have no really info on how it got there), the X environment seems to be
stable, and no more two icons, at least ever since the last email I sent to
the list.
Jeremy - thank you again for all your support. The rest of confusing
statements may be from my typing the emails "under time pressure", for which
I can only apologize at this time (rather than wasting bandwidth trying to
explain what I meant ;))
