OK, thanks for your reply but all I'm asking for is options to limit the size of the server window.

In any case, it's actually the xfce desktop manager (not the window manager) that is setting the background image. I can't just disable it because I use the xfce machine via other displays as well.

Right, X11 on os-x is rootless and takes up the entire display area. What you are asking doesn't fall into the "easy" category. We do not support the use of any {desktop,session,window}-managers other than quartz-wm. If you want to use XDMCP, I recommend you use metacity.


What you want us to do may be possible eventually, but not in the foreseeable (2008) future unless more people start helping out with this project.
