Then perhaps the "Toggle full screen" item (always disabled)
ought to be removed from the X11 menu, and "Full screen mode" from the
preferences?  You will probably get a lot fewer questions that way.
(Obviously, just comment these out of the source so they're easy to
put back in when (if?) this feature comes back.)

What I would like to see if it does come back some day is for this to
play nicely with Spaces, in that I could let the X server hog one
space so I could just switch spaces rather than doing the
command-option-A song and dance.
