No - it was new with 2.2.2. I also learned that just hitting the control
key alone would toggle the control key state. It is as if the control
key state got hard toggled while I was away in another space. I've got
2.2.3 installed now so we will see how it goes.
I used 2.2.1 from the day it came out and it was never a problem. It's
pretty hard to ignore because when I return to the xterm space and click
a window the control-click menu pops up in your face.
