Another thing I just noticed. On the Macbook, where /usr/X11/bin does
appear in the path, it doesn't appear that /etc/profile is being read at
all. Whereas on the MacPro where /usr/X11/bin does not appear in anyone's
path, /etc/profile is being read. Weird. This is looking less like an
X11 problem and more like some difference in the way that shell
configuration is setup. Should my question be sent off to another list?
Btw, in neither case does any X11 stuff appear in /etc/profile. This file
is basically the same on both machines.
