I have now tried 2.3.1. The symptom was there too.
(I have not been able to try 2.3.2_rc2 yet. It currently fails to make an X11.app.)
Can you please explain what you mean by this.
I moved previous versions of /Applications/Utilities/X11.app aside (with a mv, i.e., a rename, in the same directory - I have about 5 at present!!) and downloaded X11-2.3.2_rc2.pkg and installed. It seemed to install OK, but no X11.app appeared. I restarted my MacBook Pro. Same. I re-fetched X11-2.3.2_rc2.pkg. It became X11-2-1.3.2_rc2.pkg on my computer (presumably because I already had X11-2.3.2_rc2.pkg). I went through the installation. Same - no X11.app, nowhere (Spotlight couldn't find any recent application with a name containing X11).
Oh, that's because It didn't create a new one. It upgraded the one you moved aside. You can check your /var/log/install.log and search for org.x.X11
Ah, yes! My application named X11.2.3.2.rc1, when asked "About X11", says "XQuartz 2.3.2_rc2 (xorg-server 1.4.2-apple25)". I think I have some renaming to do!
Thanks. Sorry for the trouble.
By the way, the Grab/screenshot window selection problem persists with X11-2.3.2_rc2.
