As wired as it may sound I would buy this optical mouse from
Microsoft:

It's the same or maybe the next generation modell to the one I have
used for years now and so far I had no problems with it. Out of the
box you can use the scroll wheel as a third mouse button under OS
X. If you want to customize the button actions, switch actions,
switch default buttons etc the drivers you can download from the
net run well with Leopard. Not including the latest drivers on the
CD within the retail box was about the only downside with this
mouse.

If it's about the quality and not the price, you can buy this

MS Mouse. I used it in a company I worked for and it was really a
good mouse and even a bit more precise than the above mentioned
mouse.

Sadly I can't find the Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 in one of your
favourite stores but this would be my last MS Mouse recommendation.
I currently use this one on my main Mac and it just works. Same as
above, if you don't need a driver the scroll wheel is your third
mouse button, otherwise you can customize every button via the
Intellipoint driver.

If you don't want to buy a MS Mouse Logitech is as good as MS but
their driver seems to cause some trouble.Go google for it. I only
ran into the Growl problem but a friend has trouble with Photoshop
CS3. Those problems are solved with the latest driver on my Mac and
his Mac as well but it lasted two generations of drivers until it
got resolved. So if you buy a logitech make sure you get the
lastest driver. The best buy would be this one
<http://www.centralcomputers.com/commerce/ccp54740--logitech-931622-lx3-optical-mouse-black-931622-0403-moulog93164r.htm>.

I would also recommend that you go to your nearest store and ask
them if you can test the mouse. Sometimes they simply don't fit
your hand an you harm yourself, when you use the mouse for a couple
of hours each day.

Regards,
Eric
