Hmm. It's not completely broken for me, but it does seem to have
regressed. Here's an example that I see: starting in space 1 with
some open X windows, control-downarrow to (empty) space 3. Click
once on X11 icon in dock. Nothing happens (good) except that it
looks like one of the files on my desktop gets selected in the finder
(not so good). Click again on X11 icon, and you get switched to space
1. Or sort of --- it looks like you're in space 1, including the
Spaces icon in the menu saying so, but pressing either control
downarrow
or control uparrow will show you that some part of Spaces still thinks
you're in space 3.
Yeah, this is a known Spaces bug and something we're just going to
have to live with for now (in other words, there's no workaround at
the application level).
I've got the "When switching to an application..." preference
turned off in Spaces prefs, and also did
defaults write com.apple.dock workspaces-auto-swoosh -bool NO
since my notes say that X11 2.2.1 didn't handle the exposed Spaces
pref
properly. I dunno if 2.3.1 is supposed to be better about that
--- Jeremy, any comments?
Yeah, I haven't done anything special to handle that preference yet.
(BTW, there are a number of other things that got fixed in recent
xquartz updates that seem to have regressed under 10.5.5. I haven't
got round to filing bug reports yet.)
Did you remember to reinstall 2.3.1 after updating to 10.5.5? What
are those regressions?
