I see, thanks. But I was wondering also about files like .Xdefaults and .Xresources which are mentioned in X(7) and configuration details such as classes and instances (program resources). I'm not only a beginner in X but also in Unix. Thanks for all the help.

No it doesn't. xorg.conf is *ONLY* for the Xorg DDX. The XQuartz DDX is configured by the preferences menu.
