OK, I'm back on my MacBook at home. Using the binary called quartz-wm-PR-370-r2 as my /opt/X11/bin/quartz-wm, I get the following from the Terminal command line:
Procyon: /opt/X11/bin] ./quartz-wm
dyld: Library not loaded: /opt/local/lib/libAppleWM.7.dylib
Referenced from: /opt/X11/bin/./quartz-wm
Reason: image not found
Trace/BPT trap
In response, I placed a symbolic link to /opt/X11/lib/libAppleWM.7.dylib in /opt/local/lib.
This allows XQuartz to run correctly. But I still cannot drag an xterm or xeyes window off the edge of my desktop and into a new space.
