If Terminal.app is also funky, then it is clearly not an X11 problem.
So it might be bash, but it might also be a font problem, as has
been suggested before. What font are you using in Terminal?
I did notice that in your video, the text looked pretty blocky and
ugly, though I don't know if that was a function of the video.
Have you tried setting up a new user, as someone suggested?
Maybe you could try removing and reinstalling some fonts.
