I've been able to duplicate the error using only /opt/X11/bin code but not with the /usr/X11/bin code.

Another symptom I noticed is that the problem happens when a new xterm is created. They don't always appeat broken - sometimes they work fine. But if a new xterm is broken then all the xterms become broken - even those that were well-behaved.

Ok. I'd like to narrow this down. Can you two please take a look at the instructions I just posted to the bug report:

This might be a server issue, and it might be a quartz-wm issue. If we can atleast narrow down which puzzle piece is broken, that will help me hone in on the problem.

Thanks,
Jeremy

When did you start testing? Can you give me an idea of when you started experiencing this issue? Was it there in earlier alphas? betas?

I updated from rc1 to rc2 yesterday evening, but didn't really do much X11 work then. I noticed the problem this morning after maybe an hour's work. Curiously, I'd successfully sent several pieces of mail before it went nuts, but once it did, restarting the client app didn't fix it. Some internal state in either the server proper or quartz-wm must have gotten messed up.

As I said, I never saw anything of the kind before today.
