Yes, telling users to remove their system X11 is a terrible idea. For one thing, on Snow Leopard XQuartz doesn't make any changes to the system X11. Users are more likely to do more damage than good by attempting to clean out system X11 files, and I see no benefit to doing this. In the old (pre-SL) days where XQuartz installed in /usr, maybe.

But telling people who aren't familiar with a command line to go into their operating system and remove files is a valid option?
