I meant Google installing the launch daemon to update and having no way to disable it. Every other app I have that auto updates asks you on first run or install if you want to enable auto update.

Updates Chrome, Google Drive, anything from Google; very annoying.

But the problem here isn't really Google's fault; if it hasn't displayed a window or even an icon, it really shouldn't be able to steal focus or input events. That it, or any other "background" application such as the iCal Helper that others have fingered, can steal focus is Apple's fault. (X11 wouldn't allow this to happen, as I described in the mailing list thread I pointed to; you need to map a window to receive events or focus, and here there's no window.)
