There was no reason to reinstall X11.app from the 10.6 disc. XQuartz didn't delete it in the first place.

Yeah, you need to re-install the 10.6.8 Combo Update and subsequent security updates.

You've got X11 from Snow Leopard 10.6.0 (or whatever version your install disk was).
