Obviously I haven't read your actual radar but your quote from engineering makes it sound like you had asked (or engineering mistakenly thought you'd asked) for the current selection/insertion range and scroll position in all editors editing the same file to track together.

I for one would really loathe that. But my preferences aside, these sound like two very different things.

No, I didn't ask for that and I'm confident that it was not interpreted as that - they clearly stated that the built in editor in each respective primary window should be used, and that no redirection to some other editor should take place. They referred to the behaviour of Xcode 1.2, with regards to the topic of this thread, as a bug and the one found in 1.5 as the fix for that bug.
