Fwd: Xcode 1.5 - how to select Find results?

Whoops, I pressed Send to early... Here's the message again, sorry:

I have to strongly agree with Joar; the main editor concept worked well for my workflow whereas the current one in 1.5 is useless. As Andreas said, you now need to have space for multiple full-size editors, so even with multiple displays you quickly run out of space.

Additionally, you get really bad UI interactions now when you no longer can have a main editor. Example: In my project find panel, I've clicked on a find result and this file A appears in that editor. I edit there, and then close the panel and returns to my "main" editor. I edit there for a while, and then wishes to open file A using Open Quickly so I click Apple-Shift-D and fill in the file name and press return. What do you think happens? Well, due to the loss of a main editor concept, the closed find panel opens and displays the file since that is an editor (closed, but Xcode doesn't care) already showing file A. So I have to find this panel again (on multiple Cinema displays it is not always immediately visible due to your sight not taking in the whole area at once) and start editing there, and that is frankly unacceptable.

This is just another example of the problems with having multiple editors cause me, and just fixing this particular instance is not the answer; I really need a main editor! I know we all work differently and my situation is not representative for all, but with a large project with many files, and different branches being developed at the same time, the current situation is really bad. I can't use any other IDE (the project is appr. 1 million lines of ObjC code), I can't close & open the different branches as needed (it takes half a minute just opening the project) so I need to have them open at the same time, and with the current multiple editor situation I literally have 15-20 different editors open at the same time (a few branches, Build/Find/Debug/CVS/Main window editors for each of them). With the old PB I could have exactly one window for each of them, using tabs, and they could all be visible at the same time.

Simon (very upset about the current situation)
