Hmm... I didn't know about FileMerge. I tried it and it works fine
stand-alone. But my clean install of Xcode 1.1 apparently can't
communicate with FileMerge, even though I haven't moved anything
around.
Still, FileMerge is a pale shadow of the CW compare routine. I will
file a feature enhancement for this too. My goal is to get good tools
for free (:

Fwiw, the steps you outline are working for me. What should happen is
that the FileMerge App is loaded and it does the comparison between
the two files.
Check to make sure you have
/Developer/Applications/Utilities/FileMerge installed.
Did you do a clean install of the Xcode 1.1 Tools, or did you just do
the update? I don't know if or why it would affect FileMerge, but I
did a clean install of 1.1.

I don't know what I am doing wrong. I select a file from within my
Xcode project. Then I go to "Compare with..." under SCM and select
"File". Then I navigate to the file I want to compare with, press
"Compare", and nothing happens. There is no evidence that the
compare ever took place or that the results were stored anywhere.
