Choose "Show Detailed Build Results" from the Build menu. At the bottom of the window, you'll see a little dimple, which indicates you can drag a separator up. That separator will show the build log.


And yes, Apple definitely needs to either create a separate menu entry to show that log, or make the divider more visible.
