where to get man documentation?

My Powerbook doesn't have some man documentation available in Terminal,
but my desktop does. I tried reinstalling the xcode documentation, but
it doesn't help.
For example, I don't have sqrt (square root). For some bizarre reason,
I do have sqrtf, though.
Where can I get the full set of man documentation? The web site only
has PDF and HTML.
