You need to install gnu libtool. OS X also includes a tool called
libtool which is entirely unrelated, just to confuse issues. GNU
libtool is available via Fink and DarwinPorts and suchlike, but the
actual command installed may be called glibtool(ize) to avoid (!)
confusion.
Also, the developer tools (I think) install libtoolize, but call it
glibtoolize. In the past, I've been successful in porting Linux
software by just editing the scripts provided to rename the
aforementioned tool. Note that this is true at least since the Panther
development tools. I'm not sure if glibtoolize appeared before then.
