Title: Internal Compile Error: Bus
error
I have a Carbon C++ program that I have been developing for some
time. I was working on it today, and I also upgraded to the
latest version of Panther. After that I restarted. Once I
got the Internet to work again, (system upgrades will, of course, not
inconvenience you at all), I worked on my program more. I built
it multiple times, working out a variety of bugs and missing
features. Finally, when it looked like the problems might be
finally under control, a build did not work. The build did not
fail, nor did the Run. Running simply didn't do anything.
No icon appeared in the dock. I checked top, and by that time,
my multiple attempts had led to three running copies of my program,
but none of them had done anything apparent. I tried running
from the Finder; the application appeared in teh dock, but did not do
anything such as, say, showing windows. Since my own code
changes were in a save/restore method pair that did not run on
startup, I found this behavior at least a little baffling. The
debugger was able to offer no additional insight.; instead, it crashed
inside XCode, and in the Terminal, gdb told me "Input/output
error." and gave me no additional information.
Mystified, I decided to shake out the gremlins with a clean
build. Cleaning and building went OK until the compiler hit an
internal error. This is in a file that I was not changing at
all, and thus not recompiling. It has worked fine without
substantial change for a reasonably long period of time:

Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.

{standard input}:11:FATAL:.abort detected. Assembly
stopping.
I will submit a bug report later; does anyone know anything about
this?
Thanks,
