Beginner question: Build tab of Info dialog

An originally created application target has two parent levels in
"Build" tab in "Info" dialog, General and GNU C/C++ compiler. I have
seen there is another parent level called 'Rez' in an application's
target.
1. How do I add the level and its children?
2. Is the mark which is located at the most left of the list view
important? Why I ask is that one of the Rez's children has no mark. I
don't know how the mark is important to make an app. If so, how do I
change the mark?
