I don't see a difference to Subversion here. You can copy a fsfs- based Subversion repository to a place of your choice and access it via the file:// url on the same machine or with the svn+ssh:// url remotely. The only requirements are file access privileges and a working "svn" binary.


Subversion's documentation emphasizes on the apache-based server process, though.
