For Xcode to instantaneously notice file modifications, Apple's smbfs should first support notifications (rdar://4146132, though it's probably a duplicate). For some people I know, this was the #1 problem with OS X since 10.0, but apparently not everyone thinks so.
Interesting. That I would say this is a _huge_ bug as data loss can occur very easily. Thanks for letting me know.
