I just cannot believe in 2005 people are still typing such
rubbish as:
nm -g
To check symbols!
It works perfectly. Whatz wrong with it?
You obviously have a very different idea of perfection! [...] In
the CodeWarrior and before days, if we had to do such a thing in
the first place, then we would drag and drop the file onto a nice
intuitive GUI application, ...
Requires you to find the appropriate app, to place it visible next to
the library, then to do a precise mouse movement. Then hope the GUI
implementor empowered you to find the stuff you are searching for.
How complex compared to typing a few commands like nm, grep, etc.
... rather than typing silly hieroglyphs into a terminal window ...
Silly to the unknowing, only. They are the same hieroglyphs you use
for writing your C code, aren't they? Surely I'm not the only one
who's trying to set the mouse aside while coding.
GUI's usually give you a flat learning curve at the cost of speed and
flexibility. As a professional, you already know what you are doing?
That said, there are occurences where GUI's actually give you an
advantage. E.g. bacause they implicitely store your preferences. And
everywhere you have to deal with graphics, of course.
Take Care and All the Best
Sure, same for you.
