XCode 2.2 installer crashes

I just tried to install XCode 2.2 on my G4 10.4.3 (with all updates installed).
Installer crashes with:

After that I am able to continue with installer up to "Select Destination".
But then I am not able to select a destination because no Drive gets selectable as
installer never stops processing :-(
Any idea out there?
