In the folder <user>/Library/Preference look for com.apple.xcode.plist
I don't the exact property in the property list but you could try
renaming the existing preference file first and see if that fixes the
problem. If it does then you would know it's a preference issue and go
from there.

At the top of the variable section the columns have titles "Variable"
"Value" "Summary". If you move the mouse of the line between these
titles you can then resize the columns.
