As others have said, there are issues with your proposed solution, but I think there is merit in trying to make it more clear what is going on.


Having an "effective value" column that shows the final effect of the current buildstyle would be really nice.
The main issue I have with doing THAT, however, is that some values are pretty large (say, header search paths), and splitting the space would make that even more of an issue.
