When we double-click the .xcode or .xcodeproj file in the
Finder, Xcode jumps to front application, but the project doesn't
open.

The same thing began happening here about two weeks ago (10.4.2, Xcode 2.2 Preview 1, 15" AlBook).

I just don't see anything to reference this issue

There was a recent mention on another list, in which someone said the problem began for them after installing the MacSQL framework from http://www.rtlabs.com/macsql/. They claimed to have fixed things by completely uninstalling the developer tools and reinstalling them from scratch.

Interestingly, I had been playing with that same framework, and in fact the Xcode problem began that same day, though I didn't connect the two events at the time. And I'm not sure there actually -is- any connection (why would a framework and some project templates and IB palettes prevent Xcode from opening double-clicked files?). Still, finally gave up and uninstalled/reinstalled the dev tools as well. But the problem persists...
