10.4.4 does not run on DTS machines, nor will it. The DTS machines
use a different processor architecture than the machines shipped
today, and Apple does not expect to ship production machines with
the DTS architecure.
This is extremely disturbing news. While I fully understand that we
were not buying the DTS machines and that final shipping hardware
would be different I was under the impression that they would at
least be supported until I was required to return them. Given the
impression that they'd be useful for a year and a half $999 was a
very nice price. But now that they aren't going to be supported any
more, $999 seems a little pricey for 6 months of use (more like 5 for
us).
I sincerely hope that Apple is planning on giving discounts to those
who shelled out for the DTS machines only to find that their
investment was unexpectedly cut short.
