I agree that this is the best thing to do before installing a new
version of Xcode. It only takes a minute or two, and ensures that you
start out with a clean slate. I wish that they added this script as
an optional step in the regular installer.
After this you have to restart your system. Then you are ready to
install the new version.
No - you can install the new version right away. IIRC you get a
dialog telling you that you need to restart if you're going to
install _older_ versions of the tools
Try this way to start again from scratch.
After the installation is complete, you have to repair your disk
permission.
"Have to"? I couldn't agree with that either.
