I'm reading the document from the Help menu. The first few lines are:

Xcode 2.4.1 Release Notes
The About Xcode Tools document discusses Xcode and its role in
development on Mac OS X.
Xcode 2.4.1 is a minor update that fixes some known problems in
Xcode 2.4.
These Release Notes contain information about both Xcode 2.4 and
Xcode 2.4.1.
</rn>
Are you not seeing that?
Nope. I see "Xcode 2.4 Release Notes".
But the Xcode "About" menu item shows that it's Version 2.4.1,
component versions:
Xcode IDE: 762.0
Xcode Core: 762.0
ToolSupport: 764.0
The file shown by the Help menu is actually:
file:///Developer/ADC Reference Library/releasenotes/
DeveloperTools/Xcode/RN-Xcode/index.html
Mod date, 2 October...
Interestingly, when I look at the /Library/Logs/install.log file I
see this:
Nov 1 12:40:41 cuzco : User picked Custom Install
Nov 1 12:40:41 cuzco : Choices not allowed:
Nov 1 12:40:41 cuzco : Developer Documentation:
TT_NEWERALREADYINSTALLED
Nov 1 12:40:41 cuzco : com.apple.pkg.DevDocumentation old
3.30.0.1630000.1274 new 3.30.0.1590800.2123
Nov 1 12:40:41 cuzco : CHUD Tools: TT_NEWERALREADYINSTALLED
Nov 1 12:40:41 cuzco : com.apple.pkg.CHUD old 442.0.0.4004002.1
new 5.1.0.1590800.2123
Makes me wonder if the installer was incorrectly picking up on my
Leopard seed, although I don't know how it could (it's installed on
an external FireWire drive, and that volume wasn't even mounted at
the time).
Will try running the uninstall script and reinstalling...
