I've opened a case with Apple and they are looking into the problem.
However Apple instructed me to turn off the data formatters by un-
checking the menu Debug->Variables View->Enable Data Formatters and
this worked. THIS WORKED. I can now debug. This is the same thing
you told me to do but a slightly different method. I'm posting this
here so others can benefit from this knowledge.

I have experienced this as well. Are you using Custom Data
Formatters? I seem to recall someone mentioning that they'd
experienced problems with them. If so, you could try disabling
them temporarily.
Currently, the custom data formatters are very poor -- we have one
to display the data from our string class, but they only display
useful strings about 20% of the time. The rest of the time we
have an 'out of scope' warning.

If you find a solution to this, PLEASE email me and I'll do
likewise. FYI, I'm not using any custom data formatters.
