I did exact the same thing except I am using Xcode 2.4.1 on 10.4.10...

may be there's something I need to do?

 Hmmm, the only thing that I can see is that you checked the 'recursive search' option, in which case the iostream file in boost/tr1 would be found before the system one.

If this is not the case, maybe it's a bug in Xcode 2.4?  Is there a way to diagnose the search paths that gcc is using?
