How can Xcode help me develop applications suited to the iPhone?
Currently, the only official way you can develop for the iPhone is
by developing a web site leveraging Web 2.0 + AJAX, and right now I
am not aware of any support for these coding methods in Xcode. (Can
anyone correct this? How about using WebObjects tools?)
WebObjects 5.3 has been included with Xcode since Xcode 2.1, released
in June 2005, for both development and deployment. WebObjects
provides a modern MVC web application framework built on 100% Java.
It's easy to integrate Web 2.0 + AJAX features into WebObjects
applications because of its MVC/component-based architecture.
If you're curious about WebObjects, check out <http://www.apple.com/webobjects/
> and walk through some of the tutorials. There's also a very active
WebObjects developer community, and Apple hosts a very active
WebObjects-Dev mailing list you can join or see the archives of at <http://lists.apple.com/mailman/listinfo/webobjects-dev
>.
Further discussion of iPhone development is probably off-topic for the
Xcode-Users mailing list and should be taken elsewhere.
