How can Xcode help me develop applications suited to the iPhone?
Currently, the only official way you can develop for the iPhone is by
developing a web site leveraging Web 2.0 + AJAX, and right now I am
not aware of any support for these coding methods in Xcode. (Can
anyone correct this? How about using WebObjects tools?)
In a recent interview interview with the Wall Street Journal, Steve
Jobs mentioned that some future iPods will also be using OS X. I
suspect we will have a greater probability of being able to develop
for that platform than the iPhone (for which AT&T may have some
control as to what goes on it).
IMHO, the great news for Xcode developers is that in the same WSJ
interview Jobs mentioned that there is just one OS X development team
for all these platforms (Mac, iPhone, and future iPod models (and
AppleTV presumably)), so that means Xcode is critical to all of
Apple's crown jewels, and this means we should continue to see strong
support from Apple over the years !!!
