I can't get Xcode to install on Leopard. When I try to install it I

I'm pretty much in a bind here. If I can't get gcc I can't upgrade
other stuff.
This is a known bug in the CHUD installer that is currently under
investigation. For now, I recommend turning off CHUD in the
Developer Tools installer, then downloading CHUD separately from
developer.apple.com and running its standalone installer.
The CHUD team has provided us with a better workaround which doesn't
require disabling CHUD in the installer (disabling CHUD, which is
grouped under "Developer Tools System Components", will unfortunately
disable other important functionality).
1) Remove the following files from your system:
/System/Library/Extensions/CHUDKernLib.kext
/System/Library/Extensions/CHUDProf.kext
/System/Library/Extensions/CHUDUtils.kext
2) Reboot
3) Install your developer tools as normal. You do not need to disable
anything in the installer.
