I got a PowerBook G4 1,5 GHz with 1,5 GB Ram.
Originally it had Panther installed. As soon as Tiger was available I
upgraded to Tiger and now to Leopard.
I've installed a lot of Application and removed some of them later.
After installing Xcode 3 developing really was a pain. Compiling was
slow, Editing not to mention, even with "Research-Assistant" turned
of. So I considered buying a new MacBook Pro. But then, I got the Idea
to do a clean install of Leopard, since other Applications which
formerly worked OK, also ran very slow.
This really, really helped a lot! Developing with Xcode 3 now is fun
again. I can now even use the "Research-Assistant". It's not as fast
as my iMac but absolutely OK.

I tried searching the archives but must not have used the correct
queries....
In Jun/July I will be replacing my 2001 Quicksilver 867mhz with a
new Mac Pro.
But until then I am wondering about buying Leopard for my present G4
just to
get a head start. It has 1.12GB RAM and loads of HD, and GEForce2
TwinView
video card.
My questions
(0) Is anyone using a similar config for development under Leopard
and Xcode 3?
(1) How is the experience?
(2) Any caveats?
TIA for your advice....
respect.....
Peter
