Looks like "Open counterparts in same editor" preference in Xcode -> Preferences -> General tab is checked for you. This preference is checked by default. You might want to uncheck it if you want to open counterparts in different windows.



Unfortunately, it's not checked (never has been). Further evidence that contributes to the fishyness is that once Xcode seems to get in this weird state, even opening unrelated source files sometimes causes the current window to be reused and the previous file to be latently open. _______________________________________________
