Hi all, I'm new to the list, and I couldn't find anything in the
archives that matches my problem, so here goes. Whenever I try to
open Preferences in Xcode it hangs immediately. This happens whether
I try to use the menu or the keyboard Command-comma shortcut. No
other menu items do this, I can open and edit source files or create a
new project.
One thing to do is to move (using the Finder or Terminal) /Users/<you>/
Library/Preferences/com.apple.Xcode.plist out of the Preferences
folder and start afresh.
If that fixes it, then you could attach the Preferences file that
caused the hang to a bug report.
We only know of one hang with Preferences, and that's when opening the
Distributed Builds preference pane when running the Xcode application
in 64-bit mode. One of the system networking frameworks we link to
has different behavior in 64-bit mode than in 32-bit mode and that
causes a hang. But the normal operation of Xcode is 32-bit, so that
is not likely to be your problem.
