Rather, you will have to reinstall it from your Mac OS X install discs — to do this, your best bet is probably an "archive and install."
Whoever is writing tutorials that recommend modifying software installed by Mac OS X needs to stop. And if MacPorts is actually damaging users' systems in this way, it needs to stop. Applications running on Mac OS X must be able to run with the confidence that what is installed as part of Mac OS X itself will remain stable over time; removing items from /usr/bin behind the user and operating system's back is a very bad idea.
