[SOLVED] Hidden Build Setting Values: me.pbxuser is The Problem

  • Subject: [SOLVED] Hidden Build Setting Values: me.pbxuser is The Problem

I just spent a very frustrating time trying to find the source of a Build Products Path setting which was, according to the Project inspector and Target inspector, defined at some other level. But the value was not Custom Location in my Xcode preferences not an Xcode default because it was a path that I had made. It seemed to be a hidden Build Settings level that is not mentioned in the documentation [1]. (Although the documentation does not state this, I assume that the "Environment" Layer means the stuff accessible in Xcode's Preferences).

I finally found the value by opening the .xcodeproject package. It was in me.pbxuser plist. I trashed the whole me.pbxuser in case there was any other garbage in there.

If anyone could explain at what Build Setting Evaluation level these pbxuser settings reside, if there are any other surprises in there, and if there is a "supported" way to access them, that might be helpful Xcode users.
