HIG or Accessibility Guidelines rather than an "Xcode make me feel silly" kind of remark.

  I would definitely file something like this.  Surely there is some study somewhere that would back up the assertion that black text on a red background (especially small black text) is NOT a good idea, from a readability point-of-view, or probably from a eye-strain point of view either.  What is the brightness/light-energy of the background red color?  Given that black is 0 (or just about), the larger the difference between the two, the more readable it seems the text should be..
