I usually have success in loading my own app on my iPhone for testing, but all too often I get an alert,

Try disconnecting and powering off the device; then power the device on and reconnect it."

Of course I follow instructions and reboot it, but it does no good. This morning I am failing 100% to load the app.

any ideas?

thanks,

David

I have the same problem every time iTunes tries to update an existing application. Yes, EVERY time. At least with 2.1, it fails gracefully instead of completely borking my iPhone.

Anyway, try removing the existing copy from your iPhone before installing the newer version. I haven't done any development with the iPhone (yet), but this has helped with iTunes applications.
