Lance,
Just to let you know what my current box looks like when it comes to memory:

If you notice I have around 164MB free, before I bring up XCode.
Thanks for the advice about flying.

hi-
I have never had XCode swap, except on a 1GB computer while doing a full
production build of a million lines of code.
Maybe if you clear the xcode cache before a build that will help. In my
experience, the main swap-devil is the xcode cache (not gcc).
Can a 17" fit between the airplane chair coach seat arm rails? or do you
fly 1st class. When I fly I find the 15" to be a lot (heavy). I want to
downgrade to a macbook with a SSD, but I'll probably stick with the 15"
anyways. I was thinking about the Air, but that seems underpowered.
thanks!-

I noticed when I startup the XCode debugger my computer starts to

can hold a little more memory.
I am planning on upgrading my current MBP (1st Gen, 15", 2GB) to a
more current one. This is to be used for development and why I am
asking for your opinion on this. The two systems I am thinking of
getting are:
15" MBP with 2.53GHz CPU and 4GB
17" MBP with 2.66GHz CPU and 4GB (to start and planning on
upgrading to 8GB if needed)
Here is what I debating in my own mind:
Do I get the 17" that I can up to 8GB of RAM or go with the 15"
which is easier to transport?
From my understanding the 17" is not as portable and is hard to use
when on a plane. But the 15" max memory is 4GB vs. the 17" 8GB.
Is the extra 4GB worth it? Does it help when developing apps on
the Mac.
Note: The non-removable battery is not a concern here.
